Abstract / Excerpt:
Findings: A large proportion of the respondents who were not working comprised about 30.5%. Self-employed resopndents comprised a bigger percentage, about 49%. Only 32.5% of them have small businesses as part of their income generating activities. The most common ailments that were reported, were arthritis, hearing problems, heart problems, asthma, and lung disorder. Only 47.5 % of the respondents claimed that society gave them special treatments, 34% said that the government should extend financial support to them. Majority were indifferent about aging. The minority were happy because of the financial support bestowed on them. They have problems regarding their relationship to their family. 99% respondents claimed that they still have friends, only 1% claimed to have no remaining friend.
