No to mining in Palawan movement: students’ awareness, participation, and perception

Abstract / Excerpt:

The No to Mining in Palawan Movement is an advocacy aiming to put half to mining in the Philippines. Part of the campaign is visiting different schools and universities to encourage people to sign the petition against mining. The study aimed to identify the selected Ateneo de Davao University students' perception on mining after the movement visited the university. It also aimed to identify the students' level of awareness and participation in the said movement. The study also intended to find out if there is relationship between awareness and participation, awareness and perception and participation and perception. The study grounded on the Agenda setting theory, assumes that the media has the ability to impose great influence on what the public believes to be important.
