A proposed college guidance program of the Ateneo de Davao University.

Abstract: The purpose of the study was to gather data on the needs and problems of ADDU college students for School Year 1998-99 to evolve a functional and responsive guidance program. One hypothesis was formulated: There is no significant relationship in the needs and problems of students when analyzed by year level, sex, and academic status. The study focused on the total of 701 students with the following breakdown: 561 regular students, 69 probationary students, 49 scholars and 22 student assistants. The main idea gathering instrument was the Mooney Problem Checklist consisting of eleven problem areas namely: health and physical development, finance, living conditions and employment, social recreational activities, social psychological relations, personal psychological relations, courship, sex and marriage, home and family, morality and religion, adjustment to college work, future, vocation and employment and curriculum, teaching procedure. From the findings a proposed college guidance program was developed for the Ateneo de Davao University with the following services: individual inventory, counseling, testing, faculty/parent consultation, occupational and educational information, academic follow-up, peer counseling, research and evolution, referral group guidance, career planning, placement service and follow-up of graduates.
