More than half a million residents in this city who never had enough water in their homes will benefit when the P1.3 mil lion waterworks project is inaugurated here on Monday, Aug. 26. Three powerful pumps from Atkins, Kroll & Co. Inc. will supply some 4.5 million gallons of potable water daily to the city compared to the then 950,000 gallons of slimy water. Special guest to the formal inauguration will be executive Secretary Alejandro Melchor and Public Works Secretary David Consunji. Mayor Luis T. Santos will lead the city in the formal launching. Earlier this wee.c, the full force of the water system was put "on to flush out the clogged pipes and sanitize them in the process. Leaks were also pinpointed and plugged. Unused hydrants burst while leaking conduit pipes flooded some areas. It was as far as back in 1947 or 27 years ago where the water pipes in this got their last feel of running water.
