Abstract / Excerpt:

on March 16, 19889, we Dabawenyos will mark the 52nd Foundation Day anniversary of the City of Davao. We will celebrate with a resurgent sense of unity and pride among a community of people whose characteristics are as diverse as the nation's regions from where they come. As always, the occasion will be marked with fitting ceremonies set in festive mood, and geared to underscore the significance of the present state of the City.

For every Dabawenyo, this day is indeed meaningful and significant. It is a time to pause and reflect on one's endeavors and achievements, measuring them in terms of his contribution to, and benefits derived from, a community which has risen from humble beginnings to become the premier city of the South that it is today, In a sense, every Dabawenyo identifies his travails and successes with the growth and progress of his beloved City.
