Abstract / Excerpt:
The principal objective of this paper was to bring to the fore the experiences of Mandaya teachers using Cebuano learning materials under the mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education Program. The stipulated learning materials that were distributed in the Caraga District were written in Cebuano which was not the mother tongue language of the community. This research drew upon classroom observations and journals of teachers that were written twice a week in three weeks which comprises their whole classroom experience. The findings were divided into two, the experience of the Mandaya Teachers using the Cebuano learning materials and its corresponding coping mechanisms. Most of the themes extracted from the data were mostly concerned with the translation and production of the materials. This research was significant for it called for further educational practice especially in the part of the teachers and further research on the current policy of the Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education program in the Philippines.
