Abstract / Excerpt:
Abstract: This study assessed the effect of the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) in the acadmeic achievement of Grade-IV pupils in Mathematics. The subject were the 29 grade IV pupils of Buliok Elementary School south district, Division of Cotabato. This study was based on the result of the National Diagnostic Test (NDT) conducted by the National Education Training and Research Center (NETRC) to the 29 Grade IV pupils of Buliok Elementary School. Last July 4, 2002 on the three subject areas namely English, Mathematics and Science. The Mean Percentage Score (MPS) reveal that Mathematics grade - IV was the least learned subject areas. Gap analysis was, done and it was determined. A training seminar was conducted in November 28 and 29 2002 which was focused in the least learned competencies found on the third grading period. Implementation to the pupils started on December 2, 2002 and ended February 5, 2003. The posttest was conducted on February 6, 2003. The pretest and the post-test were treated in the following treatment the mean percentage score. The use of STAD resulted to better scores of the pupils, conclusion and recommendation were drawn and the implication for practice are discussed.
