The production of auricularia judea using different log materials

Abstract / Excerpt:

Auricularia judea was grown on different log materials such as sampaloc, acacia, ipil-ipil and mango to determine the feasibility of growing Auricularia judea in Davao City and to determine the effects of the different log materials used on the yield and growth of Auricularia judea. Among the treatments, mushroom planted to acacia logs gave the highest yield of 93.4 gms. consisting of 113 pieces of mushrooms followed by sampaloc, mango, and ipil-ipil with yields of 92.6 gms., 13.6 gms., and 8.6 gms. respectively. Analysis of variance showed no significant difference on the number of mushroom. However, the analysis on the yield of mushroom showed that it is highly significant for the treatment used. LSD analysis showed that acacia and sampaloc logs performed similarly with both significantly different from mango and ipil-ipil. Acacia and sampaloc logs proved to be more favorable media for the growth of Auricularia judea than ipil-ipil and mango.
