The effects of play on the social development of selected street children

Abstract / Excerpt:

Objectives: The main problem of this study is to determine the effects of play on the social development of the selected streetchildren.
Methodology: Experimental and Control groups format were used with the purpose of describing the subjects of the study and the effects of the independent variable on the social development of the selected streetchildren at the Davao City Home for Streetchildren.
Conclusions: (1) Planned and supervised play activities demonstrated to be a useful tool for promoting the development of positive social behavior; (2) Children in the control group, have not shown significant improvement on the areas of friendliness, cooperativeness, self-responsibility and skillfulness in coping problems; (3) Children in the experimental group show favorable effects on their social behavior.
