Abstract / Excerpt:
ABSTRACT: This study presents a diagnosis on the administration policy of Woodgrange House, a residential home located in the southeast part of England, United Kingdom. The policy diagnosis comprised of two parts: First, the assessment of the administration policy against the provisions of the National Minimum Standards (NMS) for social Services. NMS provides the essential parameters set by UK's Department of Health to maintain and standardize quality of services expected from resedential homes. Second, the administration policy was assessed against the practiced practices and the actual implementation in Woodgrange House. Significant findings of the study point to certain gaps or non-conformance, both to the NMS and to Woodgrange House's own administration policy. It was found out the administration policy of Woodgrange House does not include provisions for staff development, which is a requirement of the NMS. Furthermore, observation of actual practices in House also showed that the number of provisions in the administration policy were not actually being followed in the normal operations. To address these problematic areas, alternative implementation programs were designed in order to correct non-conforming practices. Also, a recommendation to expand the scope of the study to other aspects of the administration policy and operations of Woodgrange House was made.
