Abstract / Excerpt:

This study investigated exposure to infidelity-themed telenovelas and its possible connection to the women's views towards marriage. A correlation research method was used and so it had determined the differences on the exposure to telenovelas and its relationship on the views towards marriage. The respondents of this study were randomly selected female residents of Old San Isidro, Buhangin. They were categorized by age, educational attainment and employment status. There were a total of 41 respondents. The study was conducted with the use of validated researcher-made questionnaire to determine the level of exposure to telenovelas and views towards marriage. It was found that there was no significant difference on the level of exposure to telenovelas when analyzed according to age and educational attainment but has a significant difference when analyzed according to employment status. There was also no significant difference on the level of views towards marriage when analyzed according to age and educational attainment, though it has a significant difference when analyzed according to employment status. The findings of this study can benefit the future researchers on how they can develop the study and explore the significance of other factors affecting the views towards marriage.
