Abstract / Excerpt:

Straight to the Point is a pioneering program of Radio Mindanao Network that is patronized by more listeners in Davao City. Such commentary program caters necessary information and vital issues to its listeners while at the same time provides an interactive approach of acknowledging comments and reactions. Thus, this study was conducted to determine how the content and concept formation of the program is being established that makes its listeners listen. Moreover, the researchers seek to analyze the contents of the radio program in terms of subject and style based on the particular elements provided. This research study was conducted through a method of descriptive content analysis. The 10 randomly selected radio shows starting from November 2010 - February 2011 being studies were obtained from listening at the same time through recording. After such, data collected were coded and trended. The objectives of the study were met. Through thorough analyses of the subject and style of the Straight to the Point program, it was determined how RMN radio station formulated the concept of such program that determine the factors why encourages listeners to listen.
