Teaching effects of diagrammatical presentation and discussion guides to physics concepts

Abstract / Excerpt:

Objectives: The general objective of this study was to find out if diagrams and discussions guides affect the academic achievement in ohysics of selected fourth year high school students in Davao City. It aims to investigate: (1) Is there a significant difference between the academic achievement of students who were taught with pure lectures and those who were taught with lectures and diagrams? (2) Is there a significant difference between the academic achievement of students who were taught with diagrams and those who were taught with diagrams and discussion guides?
Methodology: Purposive sampling was used in this study in order to control the experimental set-ups in terms of the students' starting level of physics knowledge. A one-way ANOVA was also used. The pre-test prepared by the researcher was also the posttest.
Conclusions: (1) There is a significant difference in the academic achievement of students who were taught through lectures only and those who were taught through lectures coupled with diagrams.
