Abstract / Excerpt:
ABSTRACT: The speed mathematics readiness program of values school was launched two years ago. However, no statistical evaluation of the performance of the pupils in the program has been done. This study presents the performance of the kindergarten children who had undergone the program and the instrument made to assess their performance. The instrument is used to evaluate the learning performance of the kindergarten pupils in the readiness program. The performance of the pupils is studied and is tested for significance and association to their learning ability, age, gender and test preference. The pupil's were given the six prime topics and were given the pretest and posttest on the written and practical tests. The scores are scaled according to the pupils' performance. Using the portage guide to early education checklist, the pupil's permanent records and researcher-made questionnaire, the pupil's performance are tested for significance and association in relation to their learning ability, age, gender and test preferences. Descriptive, correlational and predictive, methods are employed to answer the study's objective and problems. Tablets are presented that shows the characteristic and performance of the pupils in the speed math readiness. The results show that learning ability and test preference is associated to the pupils' performance on the speed math readiness program, age does not have any significant relationship to their performance specifically in the speed mathe readiness program, and gender is not significantly dependent on the children's performance in the speed math readiness program. The following recommendations are suggested to further improve the study: 1. Develop a new set of activities that will address the three learning abilities of children in the speed math readiness program. 2. Consider the learning ability and test preference of the children in making instruments for evaluation in the speed math readiness program.
