Abstract / Excerpt:

This study was conducted to develop a SMS-Controlled Digital Information Display System for the University of Southern Mindanao. It aims to develop a system that will: facilitate the process of information dissemination from the administration building to the different colleges of the university; and send, update, delete information on the digital information display via SMS. The SMS-Controlled Digital Information Display System was evaluated through the expected software functionality. It was tested to verify if the developed system works as expected. Evaluation of the functionality of the system was tested among the expected end-users using the functionality testing type of test case. Based on the result of the evaluation, the SMS-Controlled Digital Information Display System was able to display, update and delete information on a LCD TV/monitor. Nevertheless, the SMS-Controlled Digital Information Display System had been created on its basic stage and as an immediate answer to the problem encountered on information dissemination. It is therefore recommended that system on the sending unit be improved to support user with different accounts; include posting date in the message details; provide feature for resetting passwords and retain expired messages on the database. It is also recommended that the system on the receiving unit be improved to perform only functions needed to display information; retain on the database expired messages and store on the database when information was received and the date of expiration. Furthermore, it is recommended to design a system that will utilize digital wireless transceiver.
