Abstract: Result of the National Diagnostic Test conducted last July 4, 2002 showed that pupils got low scores in three subject areas tested. The school head made a classroom observation on the teaching performance of teachers. Likewise, focus group discussion and interview with teachers were conducted to find out the difficulties and weaknesses of teachers and other factors affecting the performance of the pupils. Gap analysis explained that teachers needed to have a school-based In-service training on practical Work, to enhance their teaching competence in Science. The purpose of the study was to determine the significant effect of Practical Work, on the mastery of science concepts of grade IV pupils of Maybula Elementary School.
