Abstract / Excerpt:
Despite the historic visibility of Moro women in armed struggles and peace processes, their daily obstacles remain unseen. Women's suffering and experiences as freedom fighters hardly count and they occupy wide and extensive liminal space in literature. Hence, this study aims to explore their daily lives, struggles, experiences, and perceptions of Mujahidat of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The study is Qualitative Descriptive in paradigm. Qualitative data are obtained through in-depth Interviews (IDI) of ten (10) Research Participants who are current members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Women Auxiliary Brigade (BIWAB) and four (4) Key informants who are high ranking officials of the MILF. The result of the study shows different underlying issues with regards to the experiences, struggles and perceptions of the research participant. The result of the study presents the dynamic experiences of the research participants which spoke of the nature of their realities. Furthermore, the result also shows the varied interpretations of the research participants on the notion of Gender Inequality and Sexual Division of Labor. With their perceptions, the result of the study suggests that the research participants' responses on political issues were greatly influenced by their culture and religion, Islam. The overall result of the study implies a consideration on looking through at the perspective of the Mujahidat in order to address their personal concerns and cater their needs. As such, it also implies a reexamination on the organizational system wherein it will consider the sensitivity of women's reproductive health needs and other personal concerns. Lastly, the researchers imply the constant discussion of the socio-political issues that would contribute for the swift establishment of the entity that includes their feminine advantage and concerns.
