Knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes of nursing students towards death and dying

Abstract / Excerpt:

Objective: It is the purpose of this study to look into the knowledge, perceptions and attitudes of nursing students toward death and dying.
Methodology: The descriptive method of research was used in this study.
Conclusions: 1. Students have high level of knowledge and perceptions and highly positive attitudes towards death and dying. 2. Older and fourth year students have high level of knowledge than the younger and first eyar students towards death and dying. 3. Male students ahve high level of perception towards death and dying. 4. Religion and death experience are not significant factors in terms of knowledge, perceptions and attitudes towards death and dying. 5. The first year and fourth year students project the same level of perception and attitudes towards death and dying. 6. In terms of knowledge and attitudes toward death and dying, sex is not a significant factor.
