Abstract / Excerpt:
This researcher's stud is an inquiry on the levels of hypertension knowledge in relation with the demographic and clinical profiles which are the age, gender, educational background, duration of illness, maintenance medications, and membership to any hypertension group or organizations. A lot of different studies were already done in different countries on the hypertension knowledge among individuals. A cluster sampling technique was used in this study with a sampe population size of 30 respondents who are the hypertensive college faculty members. The methods used in the statistics of the study were frequency, mean, one-way ANOVA, and independent T-test. With one-way ANOVA, the researchers were to determine if there is a significant relationship between age, gender, educational background, and duration of illness to the hypertension knowledge of the respondents. Using T-test, the researchers were able to determine if there is a significant relationship between gender, maintenance medications and membership to any hypertension groups or organizations to the hypertension knowledge of the respondents. The researchers used mean to measure the average score of hypertension knowledge of the respondents. Lastly, with the use of frequency, the researchers were able to determine the number and percentage of each variable. According to the results of the researcher's study, there are no significant relationships between the demographic and clinical profile, and hypertension knowledge. The researchers recommended that the college faculty should improve their health and maintain a healthy lifestyle and that the Ateneo de Davao University to maintain health awareness among the faculty teaching staff. Future researchers are encouraged to use this study as resource material for comparison of data.
