Development and standardization of the quarter life crisis scale for emerging adults

Abstract / Excerpt:

The study intended to develop a quarter life crisis scale (QCS) for emerging adults who are 21-29 years old. The proposed model is anchored on Arnett's theory consisting of five dimensions: Instability, In-between, Self-focus, Identity Explorations, and Possibilities. The standard procedures in establishing the validity and reliability of the instrument were tested among 208 graduate students of nine higher education institutions in Davao region. The results revealed high validity (M=4.816) and reliability (a=0.982) coefficients. Furthermore, the t-test results ad based on the 0.05 significance level have revealed no significant difference in the level of crisis among emerging adults in Davao region when grouped by sex (sig.=0.947, age (sig.=0.195, civil status (sig.=0.185), and employment status (sig.=0.575).
