Abstract / Excerpt:
Abstract: The main purpose of this study was to determine the significant effect of the jigsaw strategy in teaching Mathematics particularly in solving worded problem of Grade IV pupils. The main problem of this research was to determine whether or not the Jigsaw strategy influences academic achievement of Grade IV pupils in Mathematics. Ho The use of Jigsaw in Cooperative Learning have no significant effect in Academic Achievement of pupils in Mathematics. The data gathered from those on the pretest and post test were computed through t-test. The over-all findings revealed the using Jigsaw in teaching Mathematics particularly in solving problems has greatly influenced the academic achievement of pupils in Mathematics. It is suggested that the Jigsaw in Cooperative learning be studied further inorder to determine its effectiveness on an teaching-learning strategy in Mathematics classroom instruction.
