Cooperative learning and student’s academic achievement in biological science

Abstract / Excerpt:

Objectives: The study aimed to find out the effect of cooperative learning on the academic achievement of students taking Biological Science for the school year 1997-1998 at St. Mary's College, Tagum, Davao. It sought to answer: (1) Is there a significant difference in the mean gain scores between the students exposed to cooperative learning and students exposed to "chalkboard" method?
Methodology: The study used the quasi-experimental design called the non randomized control group pretest and post test design.
Conclusion: Based on the findings of the study, it can be concluded that cooperative learning is an effective strategy to improve the academic achievement of students in Biological Science.
