Abstract / Excerpt:
Objectives: This study aims to find out if there are sexist words in the songs of Hagibis; to know if the songs of Hagibis present either men or women as sex or symbols of superiority; to identify specific statements that reveal its biases to any of the two genders.
Methodology: The study employed content analysis method.
Conclusions: (1) Most of the songs of Hagibis contain sexist language that could possibly affect the perception of the listeners about the two genders. (2) The songs of Hagibis presented women as sex symbols rather than men projected men as symbols of superiority rather than women. (3) most of the songs of Hagibis were biased to the male gender nor recognize the quality between the two genders. (4) Hagibis artists produced this kind of songs because of some reinforcements from the social structures present in our patriarchal society.
