The study deals with the qualification, competencies, problems and needs of the kindergarten teachers. The major findings reveal that most teachers are graduates of BEED, BSE and AB course. Very few are academically qualified to teach in the preschools. Most of these teachers have attended in-service training in Early Childhood Education. The competence of the teachers is significantly related to their qualifications, inservice training and length of teaching experience.
