The objectives of this study are : 1) to identify and describe the factors which influence the Moros in Basilan to engage in pagsanda, and 2) to evaluate whether the Moros sanda practices are either in accordance with or contrary to Islamic teachings on mortgage. Using the case study method, thirty cases were drawn up to illustrate the purposes and effects of pagsanda especially in the case of the of the magsasanda, their knowledge on pagsanda itself focusing on the terms and conditions as agreed by the participants themselves.
