This study portrays a scenario of a devastated and degraded environment of Zamboanga del Norte. Conscious of the lasting ill-effects of environmental degradation, concerned LGU and citizens joined forces to counter the elements of destruction through the organization of the Provincial Environmental Natural Resource Council (PENR). Its goals and objectives are to protect and preserve the environment of the province and rehabilitate the denuded areas which are realized through several major activities: surveillance and monitoring apprehension of violators and extending education and information drive. On the whole, the program has opened the eyes and minds of many citizens to respond to the problem of degradation of the one lush and verdant mountains and forest.
