Stock assessment to determine the status of molluscan fisheries is conducted as part of the resource and ecological assessment of Panguil Bay in January-December 1991. Stock densities, catch and effort, and various methods and gears used are monitored. Sex ratios and maturity are determined while size frequency data are analyzed for pertinent assessment parameters. Four species of cephalopods, twenty-three bivalves and three gastropods are identified. Squid, particularly Sepioteuthis lessoniana (broad-finned squid/nokos), is the most abundant cephalopod, while Modiolus metcalfei (Brown Bay Mussel/amahong) is the most abundant bivalve.
