Fertility and minority groups revisited

Annotation

A report on the findings of a survey relevant to the group status hypothesis, which states that high fertility, is a function of minority group status (Balacuit, 1981). The survey is designed to explore the objection of a Muslim minority group to the Philippine Family Planning Program. It also provides an opportunity for pursuing the methodological issue raised by Lacar (1974). Specifically, it includes a question, which can verify the underlying assumption of the hypothesis that minority group members use political reasons for their opposition to fertility control.
