Ancestral domain in the peace agenda: View from Mindanao

Annotation

This study puts together data from Spanish and American colonial documents, and from oral sources to demonstrate two important points. First, the displacement of the local population is the result largely of government of policy and projects. Second, there is the current outcry of the indigenous population for the security and recognition of their ancestral domain claims. The resolution of ancestral domain claims by the indigenous peoples of Mindanao is definitely a major component of the comprehensive peace process in Mindanao.
