This study shows that there are 2,164 farmers in 4, 710.93 hectares planted with abaca located in the nine municipalities of Davao Oriental with thirty-six fiber traders stationed in varying numbers in these municipalities. Among the problems identified are low farm productivity, high incidence of bunchy top and mosaic disease infestation and instability of price and circuitous marketing systems.
