Winged bean culture in BPI Claveria Experiment Station, Lanise, Misamis Oriental

Abstract / Excerpt:

Objectives: The study aims to know the cultural management and practices of winged bean crop in BPI Claveria Experiment Station, Lanise, Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

Methodology: Field exposures and lectures were used to obtain facts and informations regarding the cultural management and practices.

Summary: Cultural practices of winged beans are highly technical in some aspects. The methods used for the growth of plant were taken into considerations, i.e. distancing of the plant, strict observation of the plant's growth and development, pest and diseases control and others. However, there are some practices of winged bean employed in BPI Claveria Experiment Station that are similar to that of the farmer. Example of this is the use of available materials in the locality for trellising and other aspects of crop production such as land preparation, weed control, fertilization and many others.
