Abstract / Excerpt:

This study entitled "Visa extension processing experiences of tourists" primarily describes the experiences that tourist visa extension applications go through in processing their visa and their suggestions to the Bureau of Immigration, Davao District Office, which is the only government institution mandated to undertake the administration as well as enforcement of immigration and citizenship laws and admission of foreigners including the enforcement of alien registration laws. The researcher used qualitative method in describing the experiences of respondents. Purposive sampling was used. Five respondents participated in the study. In-depth interview was utilized and verbatim responses were cited. Experiences, problems and suggestions of respondents were analyzed using themes. The problems that respondents encountered were presented in five themes. The problems that respondents encountered were presented in five themes: (1) Sluggish processing, (2) information insufficiency in completing the application form, (3) Affordable for those who can afford the fees and, (4) Loads and fees, and (5) Trouble in photocopying. Machine, speed up the process, improve the air conditioning or provide more fans and give longer extensions for those who wanted it. The study recommended the Bureau of Immigration, Davao district office to increase their information dissemination in line with information for completing the forms, increase the number of employees and make use of technological advancements. In addition, policy makers should make amendments to the fees to decrease its number and make it more affordable. Furthermore, tourist visa applicants should visit the website of the Bureau of Immigration to acquire information for visa extension.
