Truth telling, forgiveness, healing: keys to gender mainstreaming in the judiciary

Abstract / Excerpt:

This study on Truth telling, forgiveness and healing: keys to Gender Mainstreaming in the Judiciary use Qualitative Research Design through Collective Case Study and Feminist approaches. Gender analysis was used at all times. The study shows that the culture of patriarchy is still reigning within the judiciary. It is not easy to remedy because the sub-culture of patriarchy appears to be intertwined with sub-cultures of corruption and impunity. Many people are already losing faith in the justice system. Truth telling through the circles of truth (COT) may pave the way to forgiveness and healing and lead to commitment for change of those involved in the administration of justice. A Counter Culture upholding Gender Equity and Equality can take place.
