Abstract / Excerpt:

This study focused on tracing the Ateneo de Davao University Social Work graduates, 1976-2007. It aimed to describe and produce information about the current situation of the social work alumni in terms of the hindering factors that the respondents encountered in practicing the profession, their coping mechanisms to solve their problems and their suggestions to improve their situation. The researchers used telephone interviews and personal interviews. The significant findings of study include that the respondents have different working field experiences, coping mechanisms and suggestions to improve the condition and situation of the social workers. It was then recommended by the respondents that the Republic Act 9344 also known as the Magna Carta for Public Social Workers must be reviewed in order to consider social workers working in private sectors.
