Abstract / Excerpt:
Objective: This study is intended to synthesize three interretaled topics separately treated in PCP II: a) women's issues, b) religious women and c) the Marian mystery in the Philippine perspective.
Methodology: The methodology employed in this paper is first exegetical. This means that the magisterial Scriptural documents are studied strictly according to the mind of their authors. Secondly, after this initial exegeticaal phase, there follows the hermeneutic stage. this means that the magisterial and scriptural documents are interrelated and contextualized in the light of the modern Philippine context. More specifically, the problem in this study is treated in three parts: (a) the analysis and synthesis of the passages of PCP II which concern in the society and in the Church and the PCP II's articulation of the Marian mystery (b) the study of the relevant text concerning women and the Marian mystery in the Gospel of St. Luke and (c) the comparison between these texts and the treatment of the women and the Mother Mary PCP II. The result of this study is therefore an inner organic coherence that gives clarity and depth to the Church's teaching regarding Philippine Christian women's significant role in the creation of the Philippine civilization of Life and Love.
