Abstract / Excerpt:
Obstetric care involves caring pregnant women before delivery, during delivery and after delivery. Each phases of the duration of the pregnant women involves different procedures that must be performed to preserve the life of the baby in the womb of the mother as well as the life of the mother. The study focused on knowing if there was significant relationship in rendering quality services to patient's level of satisfaction. For this purpose, Pearson r also known as Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, which is used to determine if there is a significant relationship between the quality services rendered to the pregnant women who had their delivery experience in the Mercury Maternity Clinic and the patient's level of satisfaction. The study included 30 pregnant women who had their delivery experience in the Mercury Maternity Clinic regardless of whether it was their first delivery or not. Results indicated that there was a significant relationship between the qualities of services rendered to the patients to patient's level of satisfaction. The quality of services was measured by the patients from their own perspective and resulted that patient has evaluated the quality of care rendered to them by the personnel of Mercy Maternity Clinic as fair with a total weighted mean of 3.73. The patient's level of satisfaction had a satisfactorily result with a total weighted mean of 4.45. This result has answered our null hypothesis that there is a significant relationship of the quality of obstetrical care to the patient's level of satisfaction. Health care delivery systems should improve their quality of the services they render to patients so that their recipients of care will be highly satisfied with their services. And that expectant mothers to carefully select the right institutions where they would submit themselves for treatment or health assistance.
