Abstract / Excerpt:
Sasa Wharf is the most important port in Davao City and the whole Region XI as well. It is because Sasa Wharf is the only seaport facility that both handles cargo and passenger ships. In it the role of Sasa Wharf as the Philippines primary gateway to the East ASEAN Growth Area that puts Davao City no. 1 destination of cargoes and passengers. The Modernization of Sasa Wharf involves the design of a more decent and contemporary type passenger terminal that would cater the needs of its user's. The proposed passenger terminal revolutionizes the way Filipino design their seaport passenger terminal that is at par in terms of design standards and facilities with other countries. The project also tackles the redevelopment of the whole Sasa Wharf, in which it support facilities need to be analyzed thoroughly for proper orientation and set-up so as to achieve the principles of Multimodalism/Intermodalism. Administrative offices are also included in the redevelopment in which their is a need for relocation so as to achieve proper administration of the function and operation of the port. Administrative offices that are included are the Bureau of Customs (Davao District Office) which handles all customs services, Philippine Coastguard, Bureau of Plant and Animal Quarantine offices. These support facilities play a vital role of the operation and success of the port and are attributed from the design orientation itself.
