The effectiveness of mathematics II workbook on students’ achievements in geometry

Abstract / Excerpt:

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the Mathematics II workbook on the geometry achievement of the sophomore high school students of the University of Immaculate Conception during the third grading period of the academic year 1997-1998. It answers: (1) Is there a significant difference between the academic achievement of the students as shown by the pretest mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the area of triangle congruence? (2) Is there a significant difference between the academic achievement of the students as shown by the pretest mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the area of quadrilaterals? (3) Is there a significant difference between the academic achievement of the students as shown by the pretest mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the overall area in geometry? (4) Is there a significant difference between the academic achievement of the students as shown by the posttest mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the area of triangle congruence? (5) Is there a significant difference between the academic achievement of the students as shown by the posttest mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the area of quadrilaterals? (6) Is there a significant difference between the academic achievement of the students as shown by the posttest mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the over all area in geometry?
Methodology: This study made use of the quasi-experimental design called non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design.
