Stress level and locus of control of primigravida

Abstract / Excerpt:

The purpose of this study is to determine the stress level of promogravida according to their age, marital status and period of pregnancy, as well as to determine their locus of control. Different variables such as age, marital status, and periods of pregnancy were included as factors affecting the levels of stress. The study aims to heighten the awareness of the respondents when ir comes the the level of stress being experienced in this period of their life as well as the type of their locus of control or health beliefs about their pregnancy. The study used a descriptive research design using self-report questionnaires, modified version of Tillburg Pregnancy Distress Scale and Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale. Results reveal that regardless of marital status and periods of pregnancy, thirty one primigravida in Hinatuan, Lianga, and Barobo, Surigao del Sur experience average level of stress. However, the variations of stress level according to their age differ. It also shows that most of the pregnant women are high in internal locus of control.
