Abstract / Excerpt:

ABSTRACT: The study sought to examine the interaction of self-efficacy, goal setting and academic performance of thr senior high school students of Saint Peter's College of Toril of the school year 2004-2005. The study determined the profile of the respondents according ot academic performance, self-efficacy and goal setting. The respondents measures average on both academic performance and self-efficacy. As to goal setting, they demonstrated an inclination toward mastery goal orientation over performance goal orientation. Further statistical treatment determines that there is no significant interaction among three variables under study. Similarly, no significant correlation has found to exist between the sutdents' academic performance and their level of self-efficacy. Academic performance, however, is correlated with the respondents' perceived mastery goal orientation, but not to their perceived performance goal orientation.
