Abstract / Excerpt:

the study "Reading Readiness Profile of Grade One pupils of Bucac Elementary School", was conducted to come up with a profile of the reading readiness performance of the Grade 1 pupils enrolled in School Year 2010-2011. The SReA pre-test and post-test results of all students were used in the study. Results showed that the reading readiness of the pupils fell below the norm of the Dep.Ed. which is 75% of the pupils should be ready. It can therefore be said that there is a problem with the reading readiness and therefore an intervention like planning/designing of appropriate instructional materials for use by the children, implementation of the eight-week curriculum and school-based training be done.
