Rational emotive therapy : its effects on self-concept and mental health

Abstract / Excerpt:

Objective: This study purported to measure the effectiveness of Rational Emotive Therapy (RET) in achieving a positive self-concept and mental health.

Methodology: This study is a quasi-experimental design utilizing a two group pretest-posttest design.

Conclusions: (1) Rational Emotive Therapy has not significantly increased mental health. (2) Lecture-open forum method is not an effective approach in fostering mental health. (3) Rational Emotive Therapy is an effective approach in achieving a positive self-concept.
