Abstract / Excerpt:

Objectives: (1) present and illustrate the different cultural and management practices employed in the breeding and farrowing operations at the Alabang Stock Farm; (2) provide the reader with valuable information on swine production.
Methodology: The operations which will be dealt with in this report are the whole breeding and farrowing operations.
Conclusions: The farm techniques employed in the breeding section of the Alabang Stock Farm is up to date. However the management techniques employed in the farrowing section are quite outdated. The pregnant gilts and sows are not placed in individualized gestating pens hence it is quite difficult to detect incidences of abortion and re-heat.
