Abstract / Excerpt:
Objective: This study is an attempt to find out the effect of the Personality Development Program on the development of the self-concept of the first year BS Medical Technology students as measured by the PASAO Self-Concept rating scale (PSCRS).
Methodology: This study is a quasi-experimental design utilizing a two group pretest-posttest design.
Conclusions: (1) The self-concept scores of the first year BS Medical Technology students of San Pedro College are comparable at the start of this investigation. (2) The Personality Development Program(PDP) which was conducted for the students belonging to the experimental group did not significantly increase the scores of these students in all dimensions. Only the factors on "goal-directedness" and "accepting attitudes" showed significant gains in scores. (3) The Personality Development Program(PDP) made an impact as regards to its capacity to significantly increase the overall mean scores of the students. The results of these research in consonance with Romero's (1990) findings that a personality development program can improve the self concept of the students.
