Abstract / Excerpt:

Methodology: The study made use of descriptive and survey method.
Summary/Conclusions: The demographic profile of majority of the Iwag Dabaw members can be summarized as follows: a) 16-20, b) college level, c) Roman catholic, d) migrants who are naturally Cebuanos, e) affiliation with the organization has been or less than a year. Iwag Dabaw members' dominant perceptions on MSM can be summarized as follows: a) MSM is normal/natural in a sense that there is nothing abnormal to the sexual activity they are involved in; b) MSMs are not homosexuals. Sexual preferences for the same gender does npt qualify MSMs to be labeled as homos; c) MSMs are different from the respondents when it comes to how they identify themselves; d) MSM is an emerging genre that is very much similar to their own but still considered different in some aspects. The perceived factors that influence most of Iwag Dabaw's member perceptions on MSM are the members' sexual preference, their gay friends, and pornographic materials such as film and magazines.
