Perceived values and practices and corporate culture

Abstract / Excerpt:

Objectives: To obtain empirical data on the members' perception of values and practices to form as basis in defining the organization's corporate culture and be the anchorage for strategic planning, organization development and designing programs geared towards maximum utilization of human resources. The study aims to answer: (1) What are the perceived values and practices of the managerial team and rank & file? (2) Are the percieved values and practices of the respondents the same? (3) What values and practices are perceived by the respondents as counter-productive? (4) Are the perception of the respondents on the values and practices considered counter-productive the same? (5) What values and practices are perceived by the respondents as promoting productivity? (6) Are the perception of the respondents on the values and practices which promote productivity the same? (7) Are selected demographic variables related to the perceived values of the respondents?
Methodology: A one-shot survey design was used for the study. The research process was descriptive as the research problem has received little attention to date.
Conclusions: (1) The higher value for the achievement and goal-orientation cannot be pursued steadfastly. (2) Significant difference in the perceived values and practices between the managerial team and the rank and file is possibly due to wide gap in role expectations.
