Abstract: This study was done to determine the effect of Peer teaching to academic performance of pupils in Science IV for the school year 2002-2003 at new Alimodian Elementary School. All grade IV pupils were the respondents of the study. This was based from his or her achievements in the National Diagnostic Test in which nobody got 75% proficiency level. The findings of the study showed the difference. The pretest result was significantly lower than the post-test result. Hence, the treatment was effective. This findings lead to the conclusion that the use of peer teaching is effective because the post-test achievement of pupils was higher than pretest. Based on the result of the study, the following recommendations are presented: (1) All teachers teaching Science from Grade III-VI should continuously implement peer teaching in teaching Science and even in all subject areas to increase academic performance of pupils. (2) More demonstration teaching will be conducted using peer teaching by grade level to improve teachers' competence in the use of the strategy. (3) Monitoring of the implementation in the use of peer teaching will be done regularly in all grade level to gather feedbacks. (4) Replication by other schools in the district in the implementation of peer teaching wherein the validity of this study be measured in a wider scope.
