Abstract / Excerpt:
This study was conducted to determine the driving forces of first year and second year student nurses of Ateneo de Davao University. This includes the respondent's demographic profile. Afterwards, the driving forces of the student nurses were identified according to two categories: Altruistic Pursuit or a Lucrative Career. The researchers used a modified survey questionnaire that was validated as a research tool in gathering necessary information from the respondents. With the use of exhaustive sampling technique, the sample population of the study was determined which resulted to a total number of 90 student nurses of Ateneo de Davao University. In analyzing the data gathered, frequency and percentage distribution were utilized, as well as, T-test and ANOVA with the level of signi?cance of 0.05. The findings of the study depicted that majority of the respondents belong to the age bracket of 18 years old and above, are females, mostly second year college students and have a family monthly income of 30,000 and above. The study also revealed that the driving forces of the respondents reflect higher on the Altruistic nature which has a mean score of 3.02. With the result of the study, certain recommendations were formulated that were focused on strengthening the driving forces and proper choices of the student nurses.
