Nonlinear dynamics of Philippine nursing education using chaos theory its implications

Abstract / Excerpt:

Conclusions: (1) Nursing education is fast moving profession, a nonlinear process wherein chaos theory can be applied. It is marked by time intervals or periods that can be further investigated for better understanding and for gaining insights about nursing education through the period of 1970-2001 beyond. (2) The more appropriate time to enter Nursing is year 2002 to 2010, and even beyond - The nursing supply in the Philippines cannot cope with the increasing demand for nurses in the different parts of the world, in Asia and the Pacific, in the Americas and the United Kingdom. (3) The new millennium is facing a crisis of nurses in general, meaning both in nursing education and in nursing practice. The curriculum needs revision and shift in paradigms, to include hospital and community practice. Teamwork among nurse professionals will ensure success in the role of nurses as change agents.
