Abstract / Excerpt:
This paper considers film elements as factors to remakes. Specifically, this work focuses on the similarities and difference of narrative structure and characterization of Batman film remakes. The films included in the study are the only Batman live motion picture film remakes created since the dawn of the original Batman film in 1966. The films are carefully analyzed and key Information Determinants are also considered to debunk any biases in the analysis of structure and characters. Study shows that Batman's backstory is similar in all films remakes. The fact remains that there are more difference in narratives than similarities. However, characters are recurring in some Batman films such as Joker, Two-face, Catwoman and Bane to name a few. Remakes are not only a popular genre but it must also be a significant knowledge to other film makers and film students. The essential elements may be the keys to future reference in order to recreate film remakes better. This study may enlighten creators who wanted to remake other films and to introduce film remake background for further understanding. This may help local media know what film remakes' structures are and the development of stated elements.
